It’s hard to believe The Sot-Weed Factor shares a Birthday with To Kill a Mockingbird

… but there’s an appreciation of the novel, on its 50th anniversary, over at The Millions… like the author of this piece and despite my tremendous affection for Barth’s first two little nihilistic novels (The Floating Opera and End of the Road), I’m also about a half-century late on The Sot-Weed Factor, although I’ve read the first 30 pages twice and Tristram Shandy once.
