It feels silly getting all misty-eyed over a shitty decade, but with Mayweather ducking Pacquiao and LeBron having to form some kind of juggernaut to get a ring, man do I miss the competitive spirit of the 80’s: Magic Vs. Larry, Hagler Vs. Hearns, The Pistons Vs. Jordan, US Vs. USSR, more specifically Rocky Vs. Drago, Michael Vs. Madonna, Connors Vs. McEnroe, Daniel-san Vs. that other guy, Wall Street Vs. Wall Street rather than Wall Street Vs. Main Street (I could go on like this).
