For a good time–

The massive all-day (Sunday, September 12th) Brooklyn Book Festival has taken shape: there’s a panel entitled “It’s only Rock n’ Roll (but I like it)” featuring Steve Almond, Jennifer Egan, and Colson Whitehead that is unfortunately scheduled at 10 in the morning, a conversation between Paul Auster and John Ashbery, another between Sarah Silverman and David Rakoff, and if you’re in a bit of a darker mood you can check-out the panel called “Living through Dying” with Pulitzer Prize winner Paul Harding or maybe you’d prefer “Being is Scary” with Per Petterson.

Friday night, WORD in Greenpoint is hosting a John Waters reading at Coco 66 (it costs $25, but admission includes a copy of the book) and there’s another event called Indie Press Celebration! at the Greenlight Bookstore in Fort Greene. Other participants include: Russell Banks, Salmon Rushdie, Gary Shteyngart, and Venus Williams.
